Services offered through White County Domestic Violence Prevention, Inc
HOPE COTTAGE: Although most people have a mental picture of a warehouse type arrangement, with rickety bunk beds as far as the eye can see and a pot of oatmeal on the stove, living arrangements at the shelter are a very different story. The shelter is “homey”. We do try to maximize space, so each woman will share a bedroom with her children, and at times of serious overcrowding, she may share a room with another woman. There is a common living room and kitchen. While at the shelter, women receive assistance in connecting with community resources, job hunting and housing searches. We offer support and encouragement. We try to help her see the strong and courageous woman who has survived abuse.
We will help her obtain an Order of Protection and accompany her to court for moral support.
SUPPORT GROUP:Talking with people who understand your situation, who have been where you are, and who may be a few steps ahead of you on the path is often the most meaningful help you can find. WCDVP sponsors a weekly support group for females who have been touched by domestic violence. If you are interested in attending, please call (501) 278-4673 for support group information.
HOTLINE:The Hotline is our point of first contact with shelter residents. The Hotline is operational 24hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year. If you need shelter, please call us. If you just need to talk, please call us. If you have a friend or family member who is in an abusive relationship and you need information, education,or just understanding, please call us. Call (501) 278-HOPE (4673), collect calls accepted.
